25 circumstances that are necessary for survival:
1. bring a flashlight
2. never go alone
3. pack chewing gum
4. take all the books by Charles Dickens (never mind if you've read them before)
5. don't forget paper and pencil
6. bring money — lots
7. coffee, coffee, coffee
8. wrap up in a warm fuzzy blanket, preferably blue
9. get near a body of water — doesn't matter what kind: lake, stream, ocean
10. memorize a long poem
11. remember to laugh
12. pack a telescope to look at the stars
13. wear boots, specifically cowboy boots
14. bring pictures of family
15. include a big shaggy dog or two
16. pack tons of boxes of popcorn, already popped
17. take lots of different colored socks to amuse yourself
18. include a jackknife for cutting down tree branches
19. don't forget a box of matches
20. pack marshmallows — the big ones that will fit on a stick
21. bring some drawings by children
